It is easy to forget about roof maintenance. You maintain your house, your lawn, and your car, but often forget the roof. That is, until disaster strikes and it’s too late for roof maintenance as you are required to do roof repair or even roof replacement. However, with good roof maintenance, you can extend the life of your roof and keep it in good repair, so those disasters do not catch you off guard.
Here at Midian Roofing, we offer roof maintenance services for both residential and commercial roofs. Maintenance on these two types of properties is similar but has some differences. For example, commercial roofing usually involves flat or nearly flat roofs, while residential roofing will be more pitched or sloped. However, both roofs still require good maintenance to keep them in good repair.
Residential roof maintenance involves inspection for any visible damage and removal of debris. This includes debris that will have been washed down into your gutters because of the slope of your roof. The debris from residential roofs most often collects in the gutters, but occasionally can stick to the shingles as well. This debris needs to be removed to eliminate moisture build-up that could damage the shingles. The gutters must also be cleaned to allow water to flow properly so that it does not back up into your roof and cause potential water damage. Along with debris removal, we also clean off areas where moss or mildew might be growing. Then, we complete any repairs needed.
Commercial roof maintenance is very similar to residential roof maintenance. We always start with a roof inspection to determine any problems or potential problems on the roof. Then, cleaning of the roof and removal of debris will also take place. But as these roofs are mostly flat, the cleaning tends to be more involved since the debris is not as easily washed down to the gutters as it would be on the pitched roof of a residential property.
We highly recommend getting residential roof maintenance done at least twice a year, and commercial roof maintenance done several times each year. Our team of professionals is highly trained to look for any signs of wear and tear that could lead to large repairs or roof replacement. And we will always present you with the best options to address concerns.
